The Sustainability Dilemma

According to the Reverse Logistics Association (RLA), annual consumer returns now eclipse $1 Trillion dollars. While global recycling efforts are scaling, they simply aren’t enough. The BBC estimates retail returns result in over 5 Billion pounds of waste in landfills each year.

The Verdi Impact

Verdi Commerce partners with leading Technology, Houseware & Appliance brands to reduce the number of products in landfills. In 2021 alone, we helped our partners repurpose over 500,000 units, all of which are now finding a second life with happy customers.

We are also working with UPS Sustainability Solutions to measure and mitigate our carbon emissions. Leveraging UPS’s Carbon Neutral Shipping services, we expect to achieve a 0-carbon footprint by 2025.

Our People

Without our team members, we are nothing. We are committed to supporting them, their families and the communities in which they live. We have partnered with Kambeo, a social impact platform, which will allow the company to facilitate, augment and celebrate donations our team members make to the charities of their choice. Additionally, we encourage our team members to volunteer for those same charities by granting extra vacation days, so they have time to get involved and make a difference.

Creating a safe, inclusive and diverse culture is fundamental to our People Plan. We want our team members to be their true authentic selves and inject a wide range of diverse perspectives into our business. In order to facilitate this, we are introducing a new series of team member led spotlights to bring awareness to a variety of topics such as unconscious bias and inclusive leadership.

To be truly successful in our endeavor towards creating positive social impact, we must encourage our business partners to cooperate alongside us. We will lead with transparency, both in the way we do business and in sharing how our values translate into a better outcome for all. By integrating our efforts with our partners, we will create a force multiplier effect that will echo up and downstream in our industry.

Our Customers

We aim to engage with our customers far more than a typical eCommerce retailer. That will kick-off with a technology recycling program that will allow our customers to both contribute to our environmental efforts while receiving a financial incentive to do so. We also want to demystify purchasing refurbished goods by educating our customers around the various acronyms and descriptions commonly used in secondhand markets. By empowering our customers with a clearer understanding of recycled goods, we hope to create a more positive customer experience and in doing so, scale the possibility of consumer sustainable purchasing.
